Welkom!
In het begin van de vorige eeuw werkte een groep kunstenaars samen onder de naam "Art Concret". Volgens hen moest kunst universeel zijn en geen andere betekenis hebben dan zichzelf. Ik onderschrijf hun filosofie en presenteer mijn werk ruim honderd jaar later daarom onder de naam “ARTCONCRETXXI”.

A principios del siglo pasado, un grupo de artistas trabajaron juntos bajo el nombre de "Art Concret". Según ellos, el arte tenía que ser universal y no tener otro significado que el de sí mismo. 1962: Geboren in Enschede (NL).
1982-1987: Opleiding TeHaTex aan de Stadsacademie voor Toegepaste Kunsten te Maastricht.
1987-2019: Op diverse scholen voor het voortgezet onderwijs les gegeven in de kunstvakken Handvaardigheid, Tekenen, Beeldende Vorming, Culturele Kunstzinnige Vorming, Kunstvak Beeldend en Kunst Algemeen.
2019-nu: Volledig werkzaam als kunstenaar.

De uitgangspunten van "Art Concret"
De term 'Concrete Art' gaat terug tot de Nederlandse kunstenaar Theo Van Doesburg. Hij schreef een manifest dat in 1930 werd gepubliceerd in het Parijse tijdschrift 'Art Concret' en het begin van een nieuwe stijl markeerde. De uitgangspunten en belangrijkste kenmerken van concrete kunst werden door hem als volgt verwoord:

Kunst is universeel.

Het kunstwerk moet volledig worden bedacht en in gedachten worden gevormd voordat het wordt uitgevoerd. Het mag niets van de formele eigenschappen van de natuur of van sensualiteit of sentimentaliteit krijgen. Wij willen lyriek, dramatiek, symboliek, enzovoorts weren.

Het schilderij moet volledig worden opgebouwd uit zuiver beeldende elementen, dat wil zeggen vlakken en kleuren. Een beeldelement heeft geen andere betekenis dan 'zichzelf' en derhalve heeft het schilderij geen andere betekenis dan 'zichzelf'.

De opbouw van het schilderij, alsook de elementen daarvan, dienen eenvoudig en visueel beheersbaar te zijn.

De techniek dient mechanisch te zijn, dat wil zeggen exact, anti-impressionistisch.

Streef naar absolute duidelijkheid.
Als synoniem voor geometrische abstractie, zowel in de schilderkunst als in de beeldhouwkunst, staat concrete kunst voor werken met een nadruk op echte materialen en echte ruimte en een voorliefde voor rasters, geometrische vormen en gladde oppervlakken. Vaak liggen hier wetenschappelijke concepten of wiskundige formules aan ten grondslag. Praktisch gezien is er dan ook een grote overeenkomst tussen concrete kunst en het constructivisme, zodat deze benamingen vaak door elkaar gebruikt worden.

El término "Arte Concreto" se remonta al artista holandés Theo Van Doesburg. Escribió un manifiesto que se publicó en 1930 en la revista parisina 'Art Concret' y marcó el comienzo de un nuevo estilo. Los principios y las características más importantes del arte concreto fueron expresados por él de la siguiente manera:

El arte es universal.

La obra de arte debe ser completamente concebida y formada en el pensamiento antes de ser ejecutada. No debe adquirir ninguna de las cualidades formales de la naturaleza, la sensualidad o el sentimentalismo. Queremos dejar de lado el lirismo, el drama, el simbolismo, etc.

La pintura debe estar compuesta íntegramente por elementos puramente pictóricos, es decir, superficies y colores. Un elemento figurativo no tiene otro significado que "sí mismo" y, por lo tanto, la pintura no tiene otro significado que "ella misma".

La estructura de la pintura, así como sus elementos, deben ser simples y visualmente manejables.

La técnica debe ser mecánica, es decir, exacta, antiimpresionista.

Apunta a la claridad absoluta.
Sinónimo de abstracción geométrica, tanto en la pintura como en la escultura, el arte concreto representa obras con énfasis en materiales reales y espacio real y una inclinación por las cuadrículas, las formas geométricas y las superficies lisas. Esto a menudo se basa en conceptos científicos o fórmulas matemáticas. Desde un punto de vista práctico, existe una gran similitud entre el arte concreto y el constructivismo, por lo que estos nombres a menudo se usan indistintamente.
The principles of "Art Concret"
The term 'Concrete Art' goes back to the Dutch artist Theo Van Doesburg. He wrote a manifesto that was published in 1930 in the Parisian magazine 'Art Concret' and marked the beginning of a new style. The principles and most important characteristics of concrete art were expressed by him as follows:

Art is universal.

The artwork must be fully conceived and formed in thought before it is executed. It must not acquire any of the formal qualities of nature or sensuality or sentimentality. We want to keep out lyricism, drama, symbolism, and so on.

The painting must be made up entirely of purely pictorial elements, i.e. surfaces and colours. A pictorial element has no other meaning than 'itself' and therefore the painting has no other meaning than 'itself'.

The structure of the painting, as well as its elements, should be simple and visually manageable.

The technique must be mechanical, i.e. exact, anti-impressionistic.

Aim for absolute clarity.
Synonymous with geometric abstraction, both in painting and sculpture, concrete art stands for works with an emphasis on real materials and real space and a penchant for grids, geometric shapes, and smooth surfaces.
This is often based on scientific concepts or mathematical formulas. From a practical point of view, there is a great similarity between concrete art and constructivism, so that these names are often used interchangeably.
